Andi Davids
Director of Marketing
Andi began questioning messages about women's roles in
society at an early age, when she refused to color with pink crayons simply
because it was expected of her.
Raised in a suburban household with a teenage brother in the 1980s, Andi
was practically served MTV as a side dish with dinner. Noting that most
of the women she saw on television had blonde hair and blue eyes and
that she did not, it was natural for her to begin examining the role the
media played in her self-perception.
Andi fine-tuned these critical-thinking skills at UC Berkeley, where she
earned her B. A. in Mass Communications. One of the highlights of her education was critically analyzing Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen's
commodification of the "tween" girl identity. Upon graduation in 2003,
Andi joined About-Face and returned to Berkeley a year later to give a
guest lecture on the topic of women's representation in the media.
Today, as About-Face's marketing maven, Andi uses all colors of the
rainbow (especially orange) to spread the word about the wonderful
things About-Face is doing for women and girls.
