We'll be in Menlo Park (California) in August! Stop on by our booth!

When: Two evenings: August 6th, and August 20th, 2008: 6:00-9:30pm
Where: Santa Cruz Ave. (between El Camino and University Drive), Menlo Park (click here for a map)

Join us at Menlo Park's Downtown Block Parties, including local shopping, live music, children's activities, a showcase of non-profit organizations (including About-Face!), delicious food, and plenty of fun!

About-Face will be raising awareness of our work, fundraising by selling our great "Quit Playing Barbie" T-shirts and other goodies, and inviting passers-by to hop on our Yay Scales (magnificent scales with no numbers, just compliments).

We'd love to hear from you if you are planning to come. Click here to e-mail us.

Come get to know us at our next volunteer meeting in San Francisco!

Learn more about our small but effective organization and the many ways we can work together! There will be volunteer opportunities to get into right away.

Date & time: Wednesday, August 13, 2008, 6:30-8:30pm

Where: The Thrive House for Youth
1100 Broderick Street at Eddy St., San Francisco
Click here for a Google Map
Click here for the Thrive House's web site.

Food: Pizza will be served. Let us know if you have food restrictions and we will try to accommodate.

Here's what you can expect:

For newcomers: In the early part of the meeting, About-Face staff will introduce the organization and talk about the many volunteer opportunities we have open, which range from a couple hours to a couple months.

Low-commitment volunteering. If you like, you can stay and start volunteering RIGHT AWAY! We'll be working on a mailing to schools in San Francisco to publicize our media-literacy workshops.

Sign up for longer-term volunteer opportunities and get to know us better.

Get to know others who are interested in this issue, making big changes in the way young women see themselves as a result of the onslaught of media messages they see every day.

Volunteers ages 13 and up are welcome. We'd prefer that teenagers ages 13 through 17 come with a parent, guardian, or adult advocate if possible.

We look forward to seeing you on the 13th!

Join us in making a difference this summer in your life and the lives of young women! We can't wait to meet you.

RSVP so we are sure we have enough food: iwanttovolunteer@about-face.org or (415) 436-0212.

Not near us? Volunteer virtually!
If you're not in the San Francisco Bay Area, we'd still like to find a way for you to volunteer. We have all kinds of ideas, so e-mail us about any skills you'd like to contribute, and please tell us your age and where you live.
